Got Juice?

ORANGE Magazine November 6, 2015

No, we are not talking about the cute little apple juice boxes or orange juice bottles. We mean green juice, filled with fruits and vegetables that drive the mind and energize the body with fiber, nutrients, vitamins and antioxidants it needs to function. In some cases, juicing redirects health with weight loss or a healthy diet. Juicing is a nationwide sensation, giving people the means to be healthy and drink something delicious at the same time.

In Austin, you can find juice establishments all over the city. Though there are many to choose from, Daily Juice, JuiceLand and Juice Austin are the three of ORANGE's favorite places to get some great juice.

Daily Juice

Daily Juice Café opened in 2003 and offers customers freshly made juice, smoothies, shots and more, promoting healthy choices for the Austin community. Megan Baker, a Daily Juice customer, says coming to Daily Juice on her lunch breaks is the little pick-me-up she needs to continue the day. “I really love the Forest of the Sprite. It’s simple but the mint and ginger wake me up,” Baker says. “I feel better immediately after drinking this stuff.”

Baker explains that although she is not an active “juicer,” she appreciates that she can get her vitamins with Daily Juice. “I have such a busy schedule that I don’t get as much time to eat healthy or exercise, so when I come here, I know I’m doing some good to my body and there’s always something new for me to try,” Baker says.

Beyond Baker’s choice of “Forest of the Sprite,” the establishment also has enticing juice, from the “Dancer,” with ginger, cucumber and beets, all the way to their signature juices, like the “Cobra,” made with ingredients such as pineapple, apple and cilantro.

JuiceLand

JuiceLand is a fresh juice bar with a wide variety of juices, smoothies, vegan cuisine options and cleansing programs to help people get their juice on. Adam Jennings, new to Austin but familiar with juicing, says he really enjoys JuiceLand on days when he’s not making his own drinks at home. “I’m a health nut, I’ll be the first to admit it, and the selections JuiceLand offers are great,” Jennings says. “The ‘Ninja Bachelor Party’ is a cool name for a drink. Like really, who thinks of these names?”

The creative names including “Cold Shower,” “The Funky Meter” and “Gunshow,” decorate their lengthy list of drinks. Enjoy any one of their concoctions with one of their healthy food options, from the “Double Rainbow Quinoa Salad” to the “Super Happy Fun Sushi Bowl.”

Juice Austin

Juice Austin is a full service juice bar with plenty of juices, smoothies, shots, cleanses and salads to choose from. Juice Austin even gives customers the option to build their own juice and try a multitude of tasty concoctions. Even better, all drinks come with a bendy straw to bring some fun to healthy drinking. Lacey Jeffries, a Juice Austin customer, says although she has never been a fan of drinking green drinks, she is obsessed with Juice Austin fruit juices. From “Picture Pear-fect” to “Sweet Pea,” Jeffries cannot get enough of these fruity mixtures. “Tropic Thunder is my favorite because I love the combination. It has orange, pineapple, grapefruit, lemon and lime and it is to die for. I can’t get over how good it is,” Jeffries says.

For those stuck indoors, Juice Austin delivers. A minimum quantity is required, but some juice lovers may not mind paying a little extra for the goodness.

These three juice places are keeping Austin...yummy. Don’t believe us? Try them out for yourself.
